Slide Library in SharePoint 2013?!

Thanks to Mike Smith's blog, we have answered a valuable question that many people ask me about.

The Slide Library is not listed as an "App" or displayed in the old Create.aspx page (_layouts/create.aspx). But… you can still get it with a direct URL. I would not depend on the being there forever as the Slide Library is officially not in 2013, but for now you can create one.

The direct URL to create the old Slide Library:

http://yourserver/sites/yoursite/_layouts/15/slnew.aspx?FeatureId={0be49fe9-9bc9-409d-abf9-702753bd878d}&ListTemplate=2100

Update 11/9/12: I just tested the Office 365 (2013) Preview and it works there too!

I just tried it with Office 365 SharePoint Online and it worked like a charm. - 11/23/2013

Hiding All Site Content in SharePoint 2010

All Site Content is located on the Quick Launch in the master page. You will need to edit the master page on usually v4.master or your custom master page.  

              
The "All Site Content" link or button is created using a SharePoint control named ClusteredSPLinkButton. The control can be hidden from selected users by changing the PermissionsString attribute.

For example, changing this to PermissionsString="DeleteListItems" would hide this control from users that can't delete items from a list, documents from a document library, and Web discussion comments in documents.

How to hide the Ribbon in SharePoint 2010

Hiding the ribbon to any user that can't delete items

1.       Navigate to the master page of the site that you wish to hide the ribbon of.

2.       Right click on the maserpage in SharePoint Designer and select Edit File in Advanced Mode

3.       Using Code view or split view, locate the <SharePoint:SPRibbon

4.       Insert before <SharePoint:SPRibbon. In this example, insert on line 61

<Sharepoint:SPSecurityTrimmedControl runat="server" PermissionsString="DeleteListItems">

5.        Navigate to the closing of the SharePoint Ribbon </SharePoint:SPRibbon>

6.       Insert </SharePoint:SPSecurityTrimmedControl>. In this example, it is line 27

7.       This will hide the ribbon to anyone that does not have the permissions to delete items.
